AL FABER
In 1994, Alwin Faber, then
three hundred forty pounds, went to his family doctor, Charles Molano, M.D.
(now retired), seeking relief from what he thought was an arthritic hip.
"Mr. Faber," said the doctor, "you are obese. Your biggest problem is that
you are entirely too fat."
Mr. Faber immediately began
"dieting." Twenty-three pounds later, his urologist, Frank Miller, M.D.
(now retired from his position as head of urology at Long Island's North
Shore University Hospital), told him that he needed life-saving prostate
surgery. The only problem was that the surgery couldn't be performed unless
and until Mr. Faber lost at least fifty pounds!
With the aid of nutritional
guidance from the late Dr. Ricardo Crudo, a Long Island based doctor who
specialized in weight loss and eating disorders, Mr. Faber learned to eat
the right foods, to eat the right amounts of food, and to walk to speed up
his metabolism.
By March
1996, Mr. Faber had lost the required 50 pounds, with not a moment to lose!
The night before his scheduled surgery, Mr. Faber had to be hospitalized, as
his enlarged prostate caused a backflow of urine into his kidneys. Had he
not been able to have the surgery the next day, he would have died of kidney
failure
By 1998, Mr. Faber was a
healthy, happy 200 pounds. Defensive Eating®
tells you how he did it, and how you
can do it too!
